FFP and MPS to explore collaboration
‘Friendly’ flowers and plants labels, Fair Flowers Fair Plants (FFP) and MPS, have announced the two organisations are exploring ways of working together, in order to provide a strong marketing platform for the FFP label.
The two organisations share the ambition of making sustainable flowers and plants the norm rather than the exception, in order to reach a larger part of the consumers. Retail florists and garden centres will be the prime target market, with marketing of the label carried out by MPS, a company with experience and a strong position in the market and with the ambition and financial strength to get the label through its first period of small market reach and financial dependency.
Currently, FFP is leading the way in social and environmental sustainability, with schemes such as MPS, the Kenya Flower Council’s standards and Fiore Giusto amongst others, benchmarking to the FFP standards.
The label is governed by a truly international board with stakeholders from production, wholesale, retail and trade unions, support that is valued highly because it will guarantee that a large share of international producers, traders and retailers choose to participate and that consumers have the trust and will buy more sustainable products. MPS will take care of professional marketing and will be involved in the governance structure in order to guarantee sound operations and scale efficiencies.
