Sparkle Set to Sell this Summer

sparkle-for-summer-douthwaites-corsage-creations-succulentHit US high-school TV shows like Glee and 90210 have upped the ante in UK prom popularity, causing the sales potential in the sector to surge. We don’t see why our school-leavers shouldn’t be treated to just as much glam as their American counterparts at their final year bash… not least because it’s the perfect opportunity for retailers like you to cash in on the celebrations.

Corsage Creations offer a massive range of perfect prom accessories; vintage is the trend of the year so make sure you stock the Vintage Lace Victoria band, offer prom-goers the chance to shine with the Fabulous Wristlet, or stay sophisticated with pearls from the Classic Collection of corsage bracelets – all of which come with a special plastic attachment for adding blooms.

Last year clothes store Quiz rolled out a ‘Prom Queen Dreams’ collection of dresses and Topshop offered clip-on prom hair buns as well as a competition to find a prize-winning prom queen. So what’s to say florists can’t get in on all this promo action too and really push those corsage sales now the peaks are over?

The market potential is huge now that so many schools offer their leavers an official prom as opposed to a cheesy end-of-year disco. The latest stats from myschoolproms.co.uk say up to 95% of schools organise sophisticated events for their yellow-corsageyear 11’s (aged 15-16) AND year 13’s (aged 17-18). However we don’t know how many of these leavers think it’s the norm to wear a floral corsage to their red carpet do, so it’s up to you to tell them!

Why not hold prom party evenings (like Ann Summers Parties but slightly less risqué!) or contact your local schools directly and find out what marketing methods are available to you; perhaps you could have a stand at a school fayre, hand out leaflets outside the school gates or see if you can become their preferred supplier by offering a commission on all sales.

They’ll be amazed by the wide variety of designs you can offer; add a splash of colour to the mix with Gum Drops bracelets or go a little boho with the oh-so-sweet Nadya bracelets. Don’t disappoint punky teens by showing off The Rocker, or for those that think BIG is beautiful go all out and really show ‘em what you can do with the Allure Cuff.

We picked up on one florist’s brilliant ‘Prom Bar’ idea; set up an in-store Pick ‘n’ Mix type stand displaying samples of Corsage Creations bracelets, picks, pins, buckles and other accessories, along with a choice of ribbon samples, so that prom-goers can pick and choose from the selection, and then come and collect their piece before the event. You can even buy display racks from Corsage Creations to really show off your stock.

Lacey Leaves, Flutters and feathers in a range of colours, Kara’s Kisses, Diamante letters and numbers, Pearl Pins and Rhinestone Quintets are just some of the choices you could offer walk-in teens so their hand-picked piece is all-the-more special.

Corsage Creations buttonholes massively cut down your make-time because they’re uber easy to use and even easier to attach to customers with their no-pin magnets! We like the sleek sophistication of the Monstera and Florentine Boutonnieres. And Corsage Creations offer tons of other unique wedding accessories too; like Design Cone pew ends and Brooch Bouquet Holders and for the little ones the Lotus Wands and Jasmine Flower Girl Baskets.

It’s not just school leavers and wedding party people who want to get their hands on fresh, floral corsages these days. Floral jewellery has massively grown in popularity, and with help from Wendy Andrade’s inspiring book on the subject you can get creative by offering RTGs that are far more unique than standard gift-wrapped plants or bunched blooms.

Sell the concept by displaying jewellery ideas that customers will picture themselves keeping with or without flowers, like the Blingzz or Eye Candy bracelets. You could even let your creativity flow by adding flowers to a Design Ring, a glitzy Showgirl Hair Piece or an elegantly understated Accent Hair Clip.

blingzzCustomers love a keepsake, which is what makes all of these ideas so special. Corsage Creations products have been designed with a plastic attachment so that adding even the most delicate of flowers is easy peasy, but they’re also perfect mementos for your customers to keep long after the special event is over.

Don’t forget there’s no minimum order for all Corsage Creations products, and there’s even free delivery on their Brooch Bouquet Kit!
