Why we need to nurture the yoof
My girls (11 & 13) now have their own bank cards. Youngest one can only get cash out but eldest is busy shopping on-line like a good ‘un! Now obviously they’re attuned to buying flowers but are we as an industry doing enough to make sure that, when it comes to buying prezzies, youngsters… and I do mean youngsters… are starting to be switched on to flowers and florists.
In the States they have a marvellous programme called Flowers For Kids. I’ve talked about it before and I know the organisers would love to get it into UK schools which is why I’ve asked Jackie M to do a feature on it. But what do florists think and area any of you already finding ways of getting kids into your shop … or you into their psyche. Jackie and I would love to hear from you.
